Happy Birthday to CDF alumnus Russell Johnson!

November 10, 1924 – January 16, 2014

Born Russell David Johnson in Ashley, PA – following High School he joined the Army Air Corps in World War II, and earned the Purple Heart when his B-24 Liberator was shot down in the Philippines during a bombing run in March, 1945. Mr. Johnson garnered an amazing 170 acting credits in a career spanning six decades. Before becoming the internationally famous castaway, Professor Roy Hinkley in Gilligan’s Island (1964–1967), he starred in several Westerns and Sci-Fi classics including Black Saddle (1959–1960), This Island Earth (1955), and Attack of the Crab Monsters (1957); as well as television appearances on series such as Alfred Hitchcock Presents (1957), The Twilight Zone (1960-1961), The Outer Limits (1964), Gunsmoke (1957–1972), Wonder Woman (1978), Bosom Buddies (1981), The Jeffersons (1982), Dynasty (1986–1987), and ALF (1987) – culminating with his role in the 1953 CDF classic film – IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE!
