Born Dwight Iliff Frye in Salina, Kansas; Mr. Frye was an American character actor of stage and screen known for his portrayals of neurotic and murderous villains. Mr. Frye’s contributions to the CDF filmography include roles such as the hunchbacked assistant, Fritz, in Frankenstein (1931), the half-wit suspect, Herman, in the horror film The Vampire Bat (1933), as a reporter in The Invisible Man (1933), as Karl In Bride of Frankenstein (1935), and his signature role – the madman Renfield, in Dracula (1931)!
