Born László Lowenstein in Rózsahegy, Hungary — Mr. Lorre was a featured performer in many Hollywood crime and mystery films including such classics as The Maltese Falcon (1941) and Casablanca (1942); in family adventure films such as 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954) and Around the World in 80 Days (1956). CDF aficionados will remember his indispensable roles as Hilary Cummins in THE BEAST WITH FIVE FINGERS (1956) and Dr. Adolphus Bedlo in THE RAVEN (1963)!
