Born in Albert Lea, Minnesota – Richard Dutoit Carlson was an American actor, television and film director, and screenwriter. In his early film career, Mr. Carlson was often cast as a romantic male lead, or lead juvenile in such films as The Ghost Breakers (1940) with Bob Hope, The Howards of Virginia (1940) with Cary Grant, Too Many Girls (1940) with Lucille Ball, Hold That Ghost (1941) with Abbott and Costello, and The Little Foxes (1941) with Bette Davis. Among science-fiction and horror fans, Mr. Carlson is perhaps best remembered for his starring roles in the CDF classics, IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE (1953), THE MAGNETIC MONSTER (1953), THE CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON (1954), and THE VALLEY OF GWANGI (1968)!
