Born Akihito Onoda in Seoul, Korea and educated at Tokyo University’s School of Interior Design; Japanese film actor Akihiko Hirata is best remembered for his roles in many classic creature features including the films as The Mysterians (1957), Varan the Unbelievable (1958), Mothra (1961), and the CDF classics – RODAN (1956), KING KONG VS. GODZILLA (1962), GHIDORAH, THE THREE-HEADED MONSTER (1964), EBIRAH, HORROR OF THE DEEP (1966), SON OF GODZILLA (1967), GODZILLA VS. MECHAGODZILLA (1974), TERROR OF MECHAGODZILLA (1975), and his most famous role of Dr. Daisuke Serizawa in the original GODZILLA (1954)!
