Happy Birthday to CDF alumna Margaret Hamilton!

December 9, 1902 – May 16, 1985

Born Margaret Brainard Hamilton in Cleveland, Ohio; Ms. Hamilton was a kindergarten schoolteacher prior to becoming a character actress in films such as You Only Live Once (1937) and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1938); before portraying one of the silver screen’s most memorable villains, in her career defining role as the Wicked Witch of the West in the 1939 classic film The Wizard of Oz. Ms. Hamilton also enjoyed roles on the small screen in TV series such as Car 54, Where Are You? (1962), The Addams Family (1965-66), Sigmund and the Sea Monster (1973), and Sesame Street (1976). However, it is her supporting role as Mrs. Jackson in the 1940 classic CDF film THE INVISIBLE WOMAN that secures her esteemed place among the vaunted CDF Alumni!
