Born Jewel Franklin Guy in Powderly, Kentucky; Mr. Best was an American television, film, stage with over 180 credits on his extensive resumé – including roles in films such as The Cimarron Kid (1952), Seven Angry Men (1955), and Shenandoah (1965). Although Mr. Best will be forevermore remembered as the aloof sheriff of Hazzard County in the 1980 classic television series ‘The Dukes of Hazzard’, it is his role as Captain Thorne Sherman in the CDF classic THE KILLER SHREWS (1959) that secures his inclusion among the honored CDF Alumni.
