Born in Ikuno, Hyōgo, Japan; Takashi Shimura was a Japanese actor with over 200 appearances on the silver screen, including roles in the Akira Kurosawa classics – Drunken Angel (1948), Rashomon (1950), Ikiru (1952) and Seven Samurai (1954). CDF and kaiju aficionados will best remember Mr. Shimura for his many appearances in such tokusatsu treasures as – GODZILLA (1954), THE MYSTERIANS (1957), MOTHRA (1961), GHIDORAH, THE THREE-HEADED MONSTER (1964), FRANKENSTEIN VS. BARUGON (1965), and GODZILLA VS. DESTROYAH (1995)!
